Here's a sneak peek into my abode... no Christmas tree and all...
See, here's ceramic Lady, toting around her succulents as usual but standing on top of a Holiday Entertaining book as well as her usual Design*Sponge at Home and In Style Weddings. Also, notice the stockings hung with care back there... and there are lights and greenery on the mantle. Doesn't that count for something?!?
And here's my super sweet cement nativity set. I adore this little set!
wreaths, wreaths!
Christmas cheer has poured into my display bowl on my kitchen table. See all those glittery things? I was born with a bit of glitter in my veins...
So, what do you guys think? Is it possible to have a sufficient Christmas without a tree? We will be at my parents house this Christmas, so it's not like we will be storing presents under our tree... or missing out on the Christmas tree experience- but leading up to the big day- Mr.Hubbs and I won't be enjoying a tree around the abode :( Maybe after Christmas I could snag a GREAT deal on a fake Christmas tree?!? Just a thought....

Oh no! I'm sorry you're tree isn't alive to see another Christmas! It is definitely not too late to get a real one though! We did go tree-less a couple years ago (life was hectic, we were in a tinsy tiny place, and weren't spending Christmas there anyway), BUT if you do feel the urge to throw one up we get ours from Costco. They're $30 and just great! It sort of takes away from the whole 'picking the perfect on out' thing on the lots, but they'll get ya a real nice on right out of the truck! :) For real though, they're big and full and we plan to do it every year!
ReplyDeleteDon't give up on your fake tree! Ours wasn't working this year either, so we just bought some really affordable lights and strung them on the tree ourselves. No we have all of our working lights on top of lights that aren't working, but I definitely consider it better than no tree. It's certainly cheaper than buying a new one!
ReplyDeleteThat's really sad! My parent's tree is experiencing a similar situation; sections of the lights are out - our quick fix? We went and bought some lights from target and strung them on the tree to cover the parts that were out. Once the tree is all "ornamented" you really can't even tell! Lesson learned, NO more pre-lit trees! Me and my fiance set up our tree in our cute little apartment together last night and I got so emotional! It's our first tree together and it makes me feel all grown up! We even set the camera up on auto so we could pose for some pics with our tree :)
ReplyDeleteDid you check all the fuses on the plug-in ends?!? They open to reveal 2 fuses.. one could have blown which puts the whole tree out. Just a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle!
I love the sparkle! We have a tree in the family room, but upstairs I'm just doing sparkly branches with glass icicles hanging on them... maybe sparkly branches would work as a substitute for you, too?
ReplyDeleteOh no!! I think you could definitely still find a real one, maybe even just buy a small potted tree, which you could plant after the holiday? What a bummer! Darn you fake tree!! Don't let it get you down though!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Not sure if it helps or if its an option, but Lowe's has 5-6 foot trees for less than $20! Just thought I'd throw that out there.
ReplyDeleteWrap some light strands, or do no lights at all and get some sparkly garland to make it bright!
ReplyDeleteWe dont have a tree this year either!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to hop on and comment about how you should just go buy a $5 strand of lights and slap it on over the non-lighting lights, but I see several gals beat me to the punch! Same thing happened to me last year with a pre-lit faux tree. We splurged on a real tree this year but we did pay $50 for it ... ouch!
ReplyDeleteI'd put your tree up, like everyone else is suggesting, and just pretty it up. You can snag a new one for next year after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHappened to me last year. I feel your pain. Thankfully, a very dear and patient friend helped me cut hundreds (thousands?) of lights off then we hung new lights. This year, it was painfully obvious that we'd only cut them off the front (and rotated the tree this year)so the process had to be repeated. Anyway, no more prelit trees for me. The fact that they only last as long as their inexpensive lights really detracts from the convenience.
